Here’s the how and the why:

I write—live, teach, learn, love— for the rubble, for the space between this world and the next.

A Writer, who Writes:

To reckon and imagine a time and place beyond this, I bear witness to what happen(s)(ed) to those with history stamped to their bones. My primary focus falls not solely to the new world, beyond oppression and repression, but what happens in the in between, about the notes left behind as we leave  the -isms binding our present and take the lushness of freedom forward.

My scholarship seeks to connect the lived experience of the enslaved and their inheritors, paving way for deeper understanding of family, freedom, community, place, and power. I continue to obsess over the ways faith and spirituality contend with the survivability of a people never intended to survive.

A Teacher, who Teaches:

Whether in a yoga studio, university classroom, corporate boardroom, or even the halls of government, my mission is to help folxs think more expansively about themselves and the world they live in.

As an educator and coach, I am committed to empowering students to build networks of care and compassion; to push through edges of discomfort and embrace the in between of their learning.

A Thinker, who Thinks:

All things come together here. I am a forever student, hungry to sort through the innards, to understand the ways our present and future(s) dance with the past. My real work is helping us discover layers where we are most free, healed, and whole.

Witness is an examination of the world as it is en route to what it can be. To witness is to gather round and tell the stories of making it over; making beauty with ashes, delighting in the wonder of the worlds we can create despite what the world throws our way.

A Leader, who Leads:

As we confront the daily realities of life in the a world bent toward injustice, we must create spaces for us—for all— to be and become. In these spaces, we find the courage and tenacity to not only dream for a world not yet, but to build the capacity to make it so.

At LifeWell Incorporated, our mission is to be a sustainable ecosystem of radical care that creates space for all to be and become. Across our enterprise— from FlowWell Yoga to The Clearing— we believe it is imperative to create ecosystems that empower us to live our best lives, pouring into the communities which produced us.

What People Are Saying

Stephon's practice and pedagogy are deeply aligned with the foundational principles of the Social Impact department and mission of the Kennedy Center. As the Nation's Cultural Center, we believe that art and culture have the power to change lives and shape our communities, especially towards justice and joy. Stephon's work advances those principles, and it is because of that, in addition to his mastery in the practice of yoga, that I would highly recommend his services to any organization or team in search of the same impact.— Trés

“Stephon is exceptional! Freedom flow is one of the most heart-opening, liberating practices I have experienced in studio. He is gentle, yet ensures you are challenged. He teaches in an empowering way to where one leaves feeling encouraged and confident to practice without guidance. I appreciate his choice of music because it intentionally fuels the practice without taking away from my own mental pathways. 10/10.”
